Early Cardiovascular Health Outreach (ECHO) alongside Island Pacific Academy (IPA), had some summer fun during Plaqtrick Goo Day— ECHO’s latest program where kids explore the importance of a healthy heart while creating their own goo “plaque” model.
This one-day program featured an educational presentation, a Four Pillar themed game, and the opportunity to make and take home some Plaqtrick goo. Through a colorful and playful presentation, the ECHO characters guided kids through the importance of incorporating the Four Pillars early on in life.
Zach Faulkner, Auxiliary Programs Manager at IPA had this to say about the experience:
Summer Days is all about giving kids opportunities they won't forget. …. Plaqtrick Goo Day was the perfect example of that—it brought smiles, laughter, and hands-on learning together in a way our students will remember for years to come.

ECHO and IPA began working together earlier this year to launch Echo Explorers program and then reconnected this summer for Plaqtrick Goo Day. We were able to bring this ooey-gooey, high energy day to 72 kids ranging from Kindergarten to 7th grade. By the end of the session, we were able to see what everyone learned by the responses they provided on a questionnaire. When asked why it is important to take care of their hearts, we received some stand out responses:
💛 If you don’t follow the 4 Pillars, there will be a build of plaque, and that can cause heart disease and attacks.
💛 So you don’t get a heart attack or get heart disease.
💛 It is important to take care of your heart because if you do not, you can get a disease that can affect your heart in a bad way.
💛 It is important to take care of your heart because it can cause heart problems in the future.
We are honored that we had the opportunity to spread some heart-healthy joy to such an amazing group. The energy and information really stuck with the goo, and we can’t wait to bring this program to more places!
